Voters in at least four villages in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district have accused the state police of confiscating identity cards and lathi-charging, thereby not letting people exercise their right to vote. The episode took place during the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 7. Incidentally, all of these villages happen to be Muslim-dominated.

I went to Obri, one of the villages where voting was stalled due to alleged violence at the polling station, and spoke to the residents about what unfolded on the polling day.
