3) Puducherry is the capital of the Union Territory of Puducherry composed of four geographically separate districts, with a unique administrative structure and a blend of French and Tamil heritage.The areas of Puducherry district and Karaikal district are bound by the state of Tamil Nadu, while Yanam district and Mahé district are enclosed by the states of Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, respectively.
Puducherry was a French colonial settlement until 1954, when it was de facto transferred to India after a local movement and political agreement.
Puducherry’s merger with India was shaped by pro-integration leaders like V. Subbiah and Edouard Goubert, culminating in the de facto transfer on 1 November 1954 through the Treaty of Cession of French Establishments in India between India and France.
4) Red Cap - The red cap worn by Puducherry Police personnel is commonly referred to as a kepi-style cap, inspired by French military and police headgear.
The kepi was part of standard French uniform, and this style continued even after integration with India.

The punchline delivered by Vijay’s character is - "Oththa aalu kootam ah maaradhum... kootam oththa aala maaradhum... ippollam orae naalla la nadakkum." (Translation: "A single person turning into a crowd, and a crowd turning into a single person... these days, both will happen in a single day.")
The dialogue highlights the power of a single individual to initiate change and mobilize the masses.

In February 2024, Vijay officially announced his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), marking his formal entry into active politics after years of indirect political messaging through films and public statements.
TVK is fighting independently for Puducherry and Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026.
7) Puducherry and Tamil Nadu -
In Puducherry, you can cross into Tamil Nadu without realising it sometimes it’s just one road away. A beach like Serenity Beach is minutes from the city, but technically falls in Tamil Nadu, not Puducherry. Geographically mixed, culturally similar, Puducherry exists inside Tamil Nadu, but functions outside it.The border isn’t always visible, but the administration changes instantly.
Same language, same people but different governments within a few kilometres.
8) The Franco-Tamil community traces its origins to the period of French colonial rule, emerging from interactions and intermarriages between French settlers and local Tamil populations.
Many members of this community historically held French citizenship or legal ties to France, and some continue to maintain cultural and familial connections across both regions.
As a result, a unique group of people of Indian origin in Puducherry hold Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) or French nationality while maintaining strong family and cultural ties locally.
