According to initial reports, multiple tourists are feared dead, and several others have sustained injuries in the ambush. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as gunfire broke out near one of the scenic tourist spots, typically bustling with visitors during the spring season.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep concern over the incident, calling it “much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years.” He confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing, and officials are still working to determine the exact number of casualties.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the attackers. Authorities are urging the public to remain calm and avoid the area as investigations continue.
